# The new ScriptGrain interface, old vs new

Same account, same voices, same drafts. What changed on 22 September 2026 is where everything lives: a top bar became a left-hand rail (a bottom bar on phones), and four sections got names that actually describe what they do. Every account got this for free, no exceptions.

Below this, you'll find an interactive viewer showing three screens before and after: Home, Voices and Write, each on desktop and on a phone. Switch between Before and Now, desktop and phone, and see exactly what moved.

## Why we rebuilt it

Here's the thing: a top menu works fine when you've got six things to organise. ScriptGrain doesn't have six things any more.

The product grew around three jobs: keeping a voice consistent, writing with it, and remembering what's already been written. Those aren't menu items you tuck under "Create" and "Analyse" and hope people find. They're the whole point. So we gave each one its own place, permanently visible, instead of burying them a click deep in a dropdown.

That's why the rail exists. Not decoration. Structure that matches the actual shape of the work.

## Where everything moved

Nothing you used before is gone. Renamed, relocated, still there.

Library and Settings kept their names. Voice Brain didn't exist as a labelled destination before; now it has its own spot in the rail, with its own page. If you haven't looked at it yet, here is [what Voice Brain does](https://scriptgrain.com/voice-brain).

The top bar carries your plan and credits, then Voice Brain, a ? menu for help, Ask ScriptGrain and your account. And there is search now: Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) searches across voices, drafts and tools in one go.

## Home, Voices and Write

Home used to be a dashboard in the generic sense: numbers, widgets, not much order. Now it opens with your voices first, each one showing confidence, sample count, words measured and drafts written. Underneath that: "What you can do", then this cycle's usage, then whatever Voice Brain thinks you should do next.

Voices is one table now, not a list you scroll through hoping to spot the right profile. Search by name, or by what a voice has actually written about. Filter by kind, filter by confidence. Pin up to three voices and they show up first everywhere, not just here.

Write opens with "Continue": whatever outline or draft you left mid-thought. Below that, the voices available to write with, then recent drafts with their voice-match score sitting next to each one. You used to hunt for this. Now it's the first thing you see.

## Help where you need it

New accounts get a nine-step tour, once, that you can skip or come back to later. It doesn't nag.

Every page also has "Walk me through this page", and a short intro line under the page title explaining what you're looking at. Found that annoying after week one? Hide it. Nobody's forcing you to read the same sentence forty times.

## Ask ScriptGrain

This is the one genuinely new thing, not a rename. Ask ScriptGrain sits in the top bar (Cmd+J to summon it) and answers questions using ScriptGrain's own help pages, not guesswork. It can open a page for you, walk you through one, or write a draft in one of your voices using the same credits the Write page uses.

Free plan: 40 messages a day. Paid plans: 300. Either way, it's not a separate product bolted on for show; it's using the same voice data and the same credits as everything else.

## On a phone

The rail becomes a bar along the bottom: Home, Voices, Write, Drafts, More. Everything else sits under "More".

Fair enough if that sounds like a compromise. It is one, a small one. Five things fit a thumb; eight don't. What matters is that the order matches desktop: the same four things you reach for constantly stay one tap away, and the rest is one tap further.

The screenshots in the viewer above are the same account, captured before and after, with only the email masked. Nothing staged, nothing invented. Just the same work, in a place that finally matches how the work actually happens: voices first, writing second, everything remembered in between.
